Chair's Message

On behalf of the Governing Body, I would like to offer you a very warm welcome to Grundisburgh Primary School. In this section you will be able to find out more information about the school’s Governors and the work that we do.

As Governors, we are extremely proud of our friendly and welcoming school where we value our community and have an ethos of kindness and support for each other.  We place a high premium on creating a learning environment in which children thrive in a vibrant, exciting and happy school.  Our dedicated staff team work together to provide a personalised learning experience and a safe and nurturing environment for all of our pupils.  Our children have a wonderfully positive attitude to school life and a love of learning.

The core functions of the Governing Body are to ensure clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction and we both challenge and support the Headteacher, Senior Leadership Team and all school personnel on the school’s educational performance and the outcomes of our pupils; we also oversee the financial performance of the school making sure that its money is well spent.

Our Governing Body consists of a diverse group of people from different walks of life.  The different skill set each governor brings is essential to allow us to operate effectively.  All Governors are volunteers – please keep an eye out for opportunities to join our Governing Body as either a parent or community Governor in the future.

We meet as a Full Governing Body twice a term and then in three main sub-committees – Finance and Personnel, Curriculum, and Health, Safety and Welfare. In addition, our Steering Committee reviews the organisational planning of the governing body to ensure our effectiveness in driving school improvement.  Governors are also linked to specific subjects and roles for areas such as safeguarding, health and safety, special educational needs, pupil premium and wellbeing and monitor these areas throughout the school year.

It is a privilege to be Chair of Governors at Grundisburgh Primary School, with a devoted team who work hard to share their expertise in helping to guide our school forward. Should you wish to contact me to discuss any matter further, I can be reached at debbie.standring@grundisburgh.suffolk.sch.uk.
