Becoming a Governor

We are a friendly, caring school that plays an important part in the life of the local community. The school has built a very good reputation both within our locality and across Suffolk. All our children experience a rich and broad education, make good progress and reach high levels of attainment.

Our Governors are volunteers who play an important part of our school community and are involved in the strategic development of our school. We value their varied skills, knowledge and experience, all of which bring benefits and insights to support our school.

They are interested in education and contributing to the development of the school and are usually people who:

  • Have sufficient time to be able to attend meetings (two termly meetings starting at 4.00pm and at least one termly committee meeting starting at a similar time) and to visit the school when required
  • Can offer a particular skill set relevant to school life
  • are willing to attend relevant training – some of which may take place during the school day or in the evenings
  • are willing to have an enhanced DBS check
